Embarking on your initial surfing adventures can be both thrilling and challenging. At Salty Smile Surf School, we believe that having a guide for your first attempts can make a significant difference in shaping a positive and enjoyable surfing experience. Here's why it's highly recommended to take a guide for your first rides:
Safety First:
Surfing involves navigating the unpredictable nature of the ocean. A guide ensures that safety is a top priority, offering guidance on reading waves, understanding currents, and providing essential water safety tips. This knowledge is crucial for a secure and enjoyable time in the water.

Accelerated Learning Curve:
Learning to surf can be a steep learning curve, especially for beginners. A knowledgeable guide can provide personalized instruction, immediate feedback, and practical tips, allowing you to progress more quickly and efficiently in mastering the basics of surfing.
The learning will be more practical because you will physically catch more waves and basically spend more time on the surfboard. Every second you stand on the surfboard is a workout for the whole body and all the stabilizers, so you can train in a practical way. For example, in two hours surfing alone without experience you might be able to catch 2-3 waves while with an experienced guide you will be able to catch about 20 waves, you will physically spend more time on the surfboard, learn from mistakes and improve from wave to wave.
Familiarity with Local Conditions:
Surf guides are well-versed in the local surf conditions, including the best spots for beginners, potential hazards, and optimal times for lessons. Their local knowledge helps tailor the surfing experience to match your skill level, making it more enjoyable and less daunting.

Equipment Guidance:
Surfing involves understanding and handling specialized equipment. A guide can assist you in selecting the right board, leash, and rash guard, ensuring that you are comfortable and equipped for your first surf session.
Building Confidence:
Surfing for the first time can be intimidating. A guide provides encouragement and support, helping build your confidence in the water. They are there to offer guidance, share their passion for surfing, and create a positive and motivating environment for your initial attempts. For starters, in any sport, we want to experience success. From these small successes we build confidence slowly and surely. It is possible that a beginner surfer without a guide and without the right knowledge, will enter the water and experience several failures, waste energy and come out of the water disappointed and think that this sport is simply not for him. In most cases this is simply not true! The reason it happened is because you didn't have the right tools or the right guidance and understanding of the currents in the water, of when to catch the wave, how to pop up, etc.

Enjoyment Factor:
Surfing is not just about riding waves; it's about enjoying the experience. With a guide by your side, you can focus on the joy of surfing without worrying about the technical aspects. They handle the logistics, allowing you to immerse yourself in the thrill of catching your first waves.
At Salty Smile Surf School, we believe that everyone deserves a positive introduction to the world of surfing. Our experienced guides are passionate about sharing the stoke of surfing while prioritizing your safety and enjoyment. So, whether you're a complete beginner or looking to refine your skills, let our guides be your companions on the journey to surfing success. 🏄♂🌊
